What God has joined together, let no man separate

Why does God hate divorce? Why does He say, "What God has joined together, let no man separate?" Because marriage is meant to be a picture of our relationship with God. It’s meant to be a shadow of heaven being cast on the earth through two human beings.

Jesus is the groom, we are the bride, and as Paul declared so emphatically in Romans 8:39, nothing in all of creation can separate us from His love. He never stops pursuing us. He always loves us and calls us back to Himself, even when we are unfaithful. Even when we feel ugly and disgusting, He sees us as beautiful and lovely.

God constantly longs for us to be near Him, and desires that He would be the strongest desire of our hearts. He burns with passion for us, and longs that we would burn with passion for Him. He will not withhold His heart from us when we sincerely seek Him, and He will not withhold His blessings either.

Let's return to our first love. Let’s throw ourselves into this intimate marriage with the living God, lest we find that He has returned for us to take us into His Father’s house and we were not ready for His return. He is coming soon.
